Rennes to send Mbaye Niang on loan to Genoa

Téléfoot Chaine report that Ligue 1 side Rennes are on the verge of accepting a proposal from Serie A club Genoa for the loan with €10m option to buy of Senegalese striker Mbaye Niang.

Niang, who has struggled for playing time for Julien Stephan’s side this season after being displaced by Serhou Guirassy, was supposed to sign for St Étienne on loan at the end of the previous window until agent and intermediary meddling led to a break down in the deal.

26-year-old Niang also had interest from the Middle East, but looks set to remain in one of Europe’s top 5 leagues.
