Following Lionel Messi’s seventh Ballon D’or triumph earlier this week, his former Barcelona team mate Samuel Eto’o congratulated the 34-year-old PSG forward in speaking with Spanish newspaper AS but also highlight the rise of Kylian Mbappé (22).
“[Mbappé] is coming at the right time. Messi and Cristiano, the gods of football, are in the twilight of their careers because of their age, and Mbappé is coming. I expect him to be the greatest player for the next 10 to 15 years. He has everything to be that unique player that football needs after these two monsters.”
The former Cameroon international also stated their pair’s fellow PSG forward Neymar, currently out for six to eight weeks with an ankle injury, remains “one of the very best in the world… If you have to choose three footballers in the world, many go for Neymar. Not because he could be one of the best, but because he already is.”
