2022/23 Coupe de France TV rights go unsold

As reported by RMC, the first round of bidding for the rights to broadcast the French cup passed without an acceptable bidder and the rights, for now, go unsold.

Although three bids were made, none of the amounts offered met the FFF’s expectations. Amazon Prime Video, who screen Ligue 1 games, L’Équipe and Eurosport were thought to be the three interested parties with no offer from beIN Sports.

The current deal shared between Eurosport and France Télévisions of €22m per season ends this campaign but next season’s rights went unsold for now, confirmed FFF president Noël Le Graët, with a negotiation period now set to take place.

Le Graët said: “The call for offers has indeed been declared unsuccessful. The executive committee authorized me to instead discuss a mutual agreement. We had set the bar quite high. Now, we’ll discuss over this coming month.”

This latest disappointment follows a similarly complicated and unsuccessful round of offers to show France national team games over the coming seasons last month.
