As reported by Media Foot, Arsenal are looking to sign Lyon attacking midfielder Lucas Paquetá this summer after the player asked to leave the French club this off-season.
Lyon, who missed out on European football for this coming season, won’t stand in the Brazilian international’s way and are planning on allowing the him to leave if they receive a sufficient bid for the 24-year-old.
Newcastle United are also trying to persuade Paquetá to join them this summer after OL rejected an approach from the Magpies in the winter following the English club’s signing of the midfielder’s great friend and countryman Bruno Guimarães.
The player, meanwhile, rejected contract talks with Lyon in January amid further interest from PSG, which is likely to have cooled since due to sporting director Leonardo being replaced by Luis Campos.
Goal France, however, report that Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed the club have already received offers for the player this summer. Aulas, however, speaking yesterday, wouldn’t name the clubs who have approached OL, saying:
“There are offers for him. There are some players who can feel fully fulfilled by the project, and others who can’t. Economically, we have the means to pursue our ideas and our objectives.”
