L’Équipe report today that several big clubs including Atlético Madrid have enquired over Marseille defender William Saliba, who is set to return to Arsenal this summer from his loan in Provence.
Although OM will want to keep the now-senior France international, keeping hold of the 21-year-old could prove difficult given the nature of the loan deal.
Saliba himself has remained ambiguous about his future, even if has indicated he is happy at Marseille and grateful to the club for giving him the platform to join Didier Deschamps’ France squad last month. L’Équipe themselves have nevertheless placed the centre-back in the “likely to leave” category within the OM team.
Speaking to Le Parisien before this Sunday’s Classique, the Paris native explained that “we’ll see in May or June depending on the negotiations. Right now, I don’t know what my future holds.”
Mattéo Guendouzi, on the other hand, will see the option to buy in his loan from the Gunners triggered, and will become a Marseille player on a permanent basis from July.
