Benjamin Lecomte in talks with Espanyol

According to RMC Sport, AS Monaco have been contacted by LaLiga club Espanyol about a possible deal for 31-year-old French goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte.

The ex-Lorient player made a slightly odd loan move to Atletico Madrid last season, where he made no appearances, after Monaco decided to give Bayern Munich loanee Alexander Nübel the #1 shirt over the course of the 2021/22 campaign.

Negotiations between the Principality side and the Spanish outfit have been ongoing for several days and the clubs are discussing the possibility of either a loan or permanent transfer deal. Both options are currently on the table.

AS Monaco are focused on acquisitions in attack following the €100m including bonuses sale of French international midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni to Real Madrid – negotiations are on with Gladbach for Breel Embolo following the acquisition of Japanese international attacking midfielder Takumi Minamino from Liverpool.

Alexander Nübel is set to be the starting goalkeeper for AS Monaco this season.
