Brest players hold press conference over series of robberies

Ligue 1 club Brest is reporting a troubling story involving a string of burglaries targeting their players. In a plea for answers and help, the club held a press conference which was transcribed and reported by Sofoot.com.

Brest defender and captain Brendan Chardonnet expressed his frustration with the ordeal, “We are fed up! More than a third of players have suffered damage in recent months. If it continues, by the end of the season it will be the majority of the group that will have been affected.”

Brest is not a club, nor an area of France, used to dealing with this type of issue. The club has reported the crimes to the authorities and opened communication with their players in order to help find a solution. The identity of the other players targeted has not been reported.

Thieves targeting players in France has become somewhat of a crisis. Most notably, GFFN reported a story involving PSG defender Marquinhos’ family being attacked and robbed. Hopefully we do not see these crimes become more widespread and a solution can be found to better protect players and their families.
