L’Équipe report today that the Versailles prosecutor’s office has dismissed an investigation for sexual assault on a minor opened against a former INF Clairefontaine (French football’s youth development centre) coach after investigations concluded that there was no violation.
In the light of the investigations carried out over the case which started back in 2020, it was concluded that there was no offence. The investigation carried out by authorities gave rise to a hearing that included several witnesses and the ex-coach in question.
The case began back in 2012 over an inappropriate text message sent by the coach who was then removed from their position for serious misconduct before resurfacing as a youth coach elsewhere and being reported by an INF official.
However, Maryvonne Caillibotte, the public prosecutor in Versailles explained: “On the criminal level, no attack or sexual assault could be established… A procedure for harassment could have been envisaged. But there were no other reports.”
