Chelsea’s N’Golo Kanté a target for Barcelona

L’Équipe report in their issue today that Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kanté is a potential target for Barcelona, with the Catalans’ director of football Mateu Alemany indicating that the club are looking to make free signings for next year’s summer transfer window.

The French international’s deal with the Premier League side expires at the end of the season, and in the wake of their financial issues the Blaugrana are identifying future free agents who are likely to accept their new wage structure as a priority. However, those issues are inevitably at the forefront of any business the club will do, not least in the wake of their Champions League exit at the group stage.

Kanté will miss France’s World Cup campaign next month after a hamstring injury he picked up against Tottenham Hotspur in August resurfaced in training. The former Caen man has been with the Blues since 2016, after winning the Premier League with Leicester, and has made a total of 262 appearances in all competitions so far.
