Chelsea’s N’Golo Kanté expected to be absent for four months

Chelsea FC have reported that France midfielder N’Golo Kanté (31) is set to be sidelined for four months due to a hamstring injury.

It had already been confirmed that Kanté would be absent from the upcoming World Cup in Qatar. The Chelsea midfielder was a key component in France’s World Cup-winning squad in Russia in 2018, but he has since been riddled by injuries. The extent of Kanté’s injury has now been revealed, and he is now expected to be absent for four months, meaning he will likely not feature for Graham Potter’s side until late February.

Following a consultation with a specialist, it was agreed that Kanté would undergo surgery to repair the damage to his hamstring. The surgery has since successfully taken place, and he must now recover before making his return to first-team action.

Kanté’s future at Chelsea is currently unclear. Whilst the Frenchman is happy in London, it is unclear as to whether Chelsea will offer him the contract that he desires.
