Christophe Galtier gives curt response on Julien Fournier relationship at Nice

In speaking with L’Équipe, new PSG coach Christophe Galtier discussed his acrimonious final few weeks at his previous club, OGC Nice, and his fractious relationship with the club’s now sacked director of football Julien Fournier.

Before Galtier moved to Paris, Fournier gave an explosive interview in which he heavily criticised Galtier and his performance during the coach’s sole season at the Allianz Riviera.

Julien Fournier gave us an interview in which he declared: “You never know a person until you’ve worked with them.” What’s your reaction?
“I will answer quite simply. He is absolutely right, you never know a person well enough before working with them.”

Did he disappoint you?

Did you agree when he criticized your approach to the Coupe de France final?
“This is his analysis.”

Given this context, could you have stayed at Nice if it hadn’t been for Paris’ interest?
“I had a guarantee from [owner] Jim Ratcliffe and [director] Dave Brailsford that I would have been the coach for next season.”
