Christophe Pélissier will be appointed as the new manager of Auxerre by next week, according to a report from L’Équipe.
The Ligue 1 side has understandably ousted Jean-Marc Furlan following a series of poor results and the middle finger gestures directed toward the Clermont supporters that led Auxerre to issue an apology note. But there has not been any official confirmation of his departure, delaying the process of welcoming the new manager for AJA.
Since leaving Lorient, Pélissier has been a free agent. While he is expected to join Auxerre’s dugout next week, the signature of the 57-year-old on AJA’s contract is still missing. The report reaffirms that the Auxerre management has not finalized the departure of Furlan.
Negotiations over the hiring of the new manager are underway as a new meeting is scheduled before Reims’ league clash against Auxerre on Sunday. It is understood that Pélissier will sign a contract with Auxerre until 2024. In the meantime, Michel Padovani will occupy the manager’s seat in the technical area at the weekend.
