Corentin Tolisso to undergo medical with Lyon ahead of free transfer

L’Équipe report this morning that Corentin Tolisso is set to complete a return to Lyon, in a move that will be officially completed as the French midfielder signs a five-year deal with his formative club.

Having left Bayern Munich at the end of his contract, Tolisso now becomes the latest Lyon-raised player to return to the club this summer after Alexandre Lacazette from Arsenal, as the club look to rebuild around those who know the club well after a disappointing season.

The World Cup winner had up until now looked to sign with a Champions League club despite Lyon’s long-running interest, so as to return to the French national team.

Tolisso will have made 118 appearances with the Bavarians, in a spell that was marred by injuries after an initially impressive first season. He scored 21 goals and won five Bundesliga titles.

RMC Sport add that Tolisso will undergo his medical today, after which the 27-year-old’s signing will be confirmed. The midfielder has ostensibly heard the calls of Lacazette and Anthony Lopes to get the band back together.
