David Guion: “There is no racism in the dressing room.”

Following an official statement published by the Bordeaux ultras, the Ultramarines on Wednesday, in which Benoît Costil was accused of racism, the club’s manager, David Guion, spoke to radio station France Bleu Gironde yesterday to defend his goalkeeper.

“We’ve had a very difficult week,” he said, “together, I think this club is one which has played the most foreign players this year in Ligue 1. At no moment can racism enter the dressing room: it will not and it has not. I’ve seen the statements of the club, the players and the supporters. I’ve seen that everyone’s goal is staying up, including Benoît’s. That’s what I’m interested in. And today, I want strong gestures on the pitch, I want victories.”

As mentioned, the players also released a statement on Thursday defending the goalkeeper, as well as Lorent Koscielny, who was also targeted by accusations.
