Didier Deschamps allows family visits for France players during World Cup

According to L’Équipe Didier Deschamps has authorised family ‘short and punctual’ family visits for France players – something which was not allowed during their 2018 World Cup triumph. The measure has been allowed to be brought in due to the logistics of playing a World Cup predominantly in the same city ; players no longer have to move between host cities nor do they return late at night following matches.

This has meant that Deschamps has allow short, one-off visits by families of players (and staff) in the week following their first match against Australia. This differs from previous editions of the tournament as families had to wait until the knockout stages before being allowed time to visit players in what is usually a very tight World Cup schedule.

These visits are not considered as official yet, as not all the families of players have been able to travel to Qatar – but following a potential round of 16 match is when loved ones will be able to spend a night with the players.
