Le Parisien are reporting that a meeting has taken place between Didier Deschamps and Noël Le Graët, with the future of the France manager to be announced in early January.
According to Le Parisien, the meeting between the pair took place in Le Graët’s office in Guingamp on Thursday. Deschamps’ future as manager of Les Bleus was the main topic of conversation, although the fruit of that discussion is yet to be revealed. Le Graët, president of the French Football Federation (FFF), has previously expressed a desire for Deschamps, who won the World Cup in 2018 and guided France to this year’s World Cup final, to remain as manager. French President Emmanuel Macron has backed those calls.
A decision over the potential extension of Deschamps’ contract is set to be announced in January, with L’Équipe earmarking the 7th as a potential date when the decision will be made public. The French publication report that the FFF will hold a meeting at a hotel in the 17th arrondissement of Paris on this date. It has not been confirmed whether the future of the French managerial position will be clarified on this date, however, it is L’Équipe’s understanding that this will be the case.
