Didier Deschamps praises ‘individual quality’ of Kylian Mbappé in France win over Poland

Speaking to TF1 following France’s 3-1 win over Poland to reach the quarter finals of the 2022 World Cup, manager Didier Deschamps praised the character of his squad and the individual quality of Kylian Mbappé during the win.

Deschamps firstly said that the game “wasn’t so simple at the end of the first half” and that some “tweaks were made at half time“, going on to praise the “individual quality” of Kylian Mbappé whilst then praising the “character” of the squad to not give Poland defensively anything for the majority of the second half – something he was saying was needed during his half time interview.

France went ahead thanks to Olivier Giroud just before halftime – becoming France’s top goalscorer with his 52nd, going ahead of Thierry Henry. Kylian Mbappé then surpassed Zinedine Zidane’s goalscoring record with a double to seal the deal for Les Bleus. France will play the quarter final next Saturday where Les Bleus will face either Senegal or England.
