In an interview with Le Parisien this Saturday, French president Emmanuel Macron has predicted a France win for today’s last 16 World Cup clash against Poland, and indicated that he has been speaking with Didier Deschamps on a regular basis during the tournament.
Macron, who has indicated that he would be travelling to Qatar should Les Bleus reach the semi-finals, says he thinks Deschamps and his men will advance to the quarters with a 3-1 win today:
“Lewandowski will score one, just like Mbappé or maybe Giroud, who wants to make history. It’s a joker for the French team’s third goal.”
Speaking from his visit to the United States, he added that he had been having post-match conversations with the manager. Macron explains that he believes the France team to be strong and solid once again, and that he has a great esteem for Deschamps’ abilities.
The president concluded that although the team was on average a young side, they could look to the eleven or so players in the team who have experience of winning a World Cup.
