Erling Haaland is PSG’s Plan B should Kylian Mbappé leave

L’Équipe report tonight that although Paris Saint-Germain remain hopeful of renewing Kylian Mbappé’s contract before it expires at the end of the season, they have nevertheless made plans for alternative options.

The Plan B should the Frenchman leave the capital would reportedly be to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland. Exchanges have already taken place, and have been facilitated by the excellent rapport between club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and director Leonardo with Mino Raiola, the Norwegian’s agent.

The forward – whose imposing figure would make him the type of striker PSG have not had since Zlatan Ibrahimović – was also an option when Mbappé was pushing to move to Real Madird over the summer, but his club did not want to let him go.

This year, however, Haaland has a release clause set at €75m plus bonuses ranging between €10m and €15m – a (relatively) low fee for one of the most in-demand strikers on the market, meaning Les Parisiens would have competition for his signing.
