As reported by L’Équipe, FIFA have announced that foreign players and coaches based in Russia or Ukraine will have the chance to see their contracts suspended and will be allowed to find new employers following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
FIFA said they’re looking to “facilitate the departure” of all those who’ve not already found an agreement with their clubs and will have “the right to unilaterally suspend their employment contract” until June 30th and will be able to sign for another club in another league until April 7th at the latest, even if the move falls outside a country’s transfer window.
Foreign players and coaches in Ukraine will benefit from the same provision, to allow them “to work and receive a salary” while “protecting Ukrainian clubs” forced to suspend activities by Russia’s invasion.
