As reported by L’Équipe, Rennes sporting director Florian Maurice has confirmed the club are interested in signing 25-year-old Fenerbahçe defender Kim Min-jae as a replacement for West Ham-bound Nayef Aguerd. Speaking to the TV Rennes show Pleine Lucarne, Genesio said:
“Today, not much is happening [in the market] there are not fifty players who have signed for French clubs, but I’m working hard to have the most complete squad possible as soon as possible… It’s not easy to find the copy or the double of Nayef.” Of the South Korean international, Maurice said: “He’s one of the players I like, with the ability to play in a high block and manage depth, but it’s not easy.”
Rennes are also reportedly interested in Sassuolo man Kaan Ayhan (27) as Aguerd’s replacement with a fee of around €5m for the Turkish international possible. Talks with Lyon’s Jason Denayer have been stalling over wages, however. The €20m-rated Kim, meanwhile, is also seeing interest from Benfica and Brighton.
