During an interview given with L’Équipe, French World Cup winner Florian Thauvin (29) spoke about his intentions to return to the French squad, despite his near three-year absence. The right-winger left Europe last summer to play his club football for Mexican side Tigres.
“As long as I’m playing, I will think of the French team. I will never forget the idea of Les Bleus! I still receive the pre-call ups. I’ve had the chance to be double World Champion. My attachment to the shirt is tremendous. It will always be a dream to return to the French team and to hold my country’s shirt high.”
The 29-year-old’s last international cap came against Andorra in June of 2019, however Thauvin has represented his country at the Tokyo Olympics since then.
