France Sports minister comments on Pogba scandal

France’s sports minister appeared on Franceinfo to comment on French Football’s latest scandal involving both Mathias and Paul Pogba, and Mbappé – with two months to go before the 2022 World Cup. Trasncribed by Le Parisien Amélie Oudéa-Castéra commented on players’ entourages and said that she was ‘attentive’ to the situation:

“You have to be hyper-aware of the issue of entourages. When you are a world champion, you are exposed to all sorts of influences, good and bad. I think there has to be support from the clubs, from the authorities, right from the training stages.”

“As we all know, a successful run in this type of competition depends on a combination of the fitness of its talents and the quality of life of the group, but we are lucky to have Didier Deschamps: I have every confidence in him,” the minister stressed. He has all the experience necessary to manage this type of sensitive, complex situation. He has proved it as a player, as a coach and as a coach. I know that we will adapt to the situation and that Didier will be able to protect his team from these turbulences.”
