L’Équipe are reporting that the France squad will have their first day off of the tournament on Monday, and will be allowed to see family members and close ones.
With the tight turnaround between games, Didier Deschamps’ men hadn’t had any time off since the beginning of the Qatar World Cup. However, following their Round of 16 victory against Poland, they will get their first day of rest. From Sunday evening until Monday evening, family members and those close to the squad will be allowed to visit the players at their camps at the Al Messila Luxury Collection Resort and Spa. The players will then return to training on Tuesday in order to prepare for their quarter-final tie against England.
When the sides meet on Saturday, it will be the first time they have done so in the knockout stages of a major competition. Gareth Southgate’s side ensured their progression with a comfortable 3-0 victory over African champions Senegal.
