L’Équipe report in today’s issue that Fulham are interested in signing Houssem Aouar, who himself is enticed by the move, having previously been in talks with another newly-promoted Premier League club in Nottingham Forest.
Aouar, who was also the subject of interest from Leicester as well as Benfica, believes that impressing across the Channel could open up new opportunities to him afterwards.
Fulham are in talks with Lyon, but the Londoners’ limited finances will not allow them to recruit the one-time French international on a straight transfer.
The midfielder has been valued by Lyon at €15m, down from the €60m price tag they had put on him in 2020, in the wake of his impressive Champions League performances.
Aouar had also agreed personal terms with Nottingham Forest, while Benfica made an offer worth less than €10m but the player is set on going to England. Nice are also interested but Lyon are reluctant to sell to a direct rival.
