Galatasaray confirm talks with Lyon for Léo Dubois

Galatasaray have this afternoon announced that talks have commenced over the prospective signing of Lyon right-back Léo Dubois on a permanent deal.

The French international had been named club captain at the start of the season but had seen his place in the starting eleven progressively taken over by the emerging young talent Malo Gusto as the season went on, leaving him with 28 appearances overall.

The former Nantes man was enticed by the idea of a move abroad as he looks to break into Didier Deschamps’ World Cup squad, with Fulham and Fiorentina also having been potential destinations, while clubs in Spain were also interested. Foot Mercato indicate that a deal was agreed with the Turkish side for a €2.5m fee along with €500k in bonuses.

He leaves Lyon after four seasons, in which he made a total of 129 appearances, scoring five goals and registering fifteen assists. L’Équipe report that the 27-year-old has said goodbye to his teammates already and is flying out to Istanbul tonight.
