Gianni Infantino: “There will be no rule changes.”

Speaking to BeIN Sports this afternoon ahead of the Ligue 2 fixture between Guingamp and Toulouse, which he attended with close friend and president of the French Football Federation Noël Le Graët, FIFA president Gianni Infantino discussed the rumours around extending the length of matches for the World Cup in Qatar, among other topics.

“There will be no rule changes,” he said, in light of the possibility of 100-minute matches. “In all honesty, we do need to reflect on the game time to the extent that there is a lot of time lost during a match. If we ask the spectators to pay for 90 minutes, and it lasts 50, there are things to be reviewed. Injury time might have to be reviewed too, which should be taken in relation to the time lost during a match.”
