The agents of Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar now have a provisional contract agreement in place with newly-promoted Premier League side Nottingham forest, according to sources contacted by Get French Football News.
As initially reported yesterday by Gianluca Di Marzio and Foot Mercato, the spendthrift English team had emerged as the favourites to sign the one-time French international. Leicester and Real Betis were also interested, but the Spanish club were unable to complete a deal as a result of La Liga’s Financial Fair Play regulations.
With a provisional contract agreement now in place, Aouar is looking to play for time and stall as he hopes that other opportunities will come up. Lyon, though, are insisting on his sale.
Aouar is set to leave his formative and hometown club after six seasons in the first team. With his performances in the 2020 Champions League earning him links to the likes of Juventus, the Frenchman has somewhat blown hot and cold in the last two campaigns but nevertheless remains a talented prospect.
