Aston Villa left-back Lucas Digne (29) has pulled out of the France squad for their upcoming Nations League fixtures against Austria and Denmark and been replaced by Rennes’ Adrien Truffert (20).
Digne has withdrawn from the squad on Tuesday, having only been called up on Monday. He was brought in to replace the injured Théo Hernandez, but an injury to Digne’s right ankle now sees him ruled out too.
Profiting from a deepening injury crisis is Truffert, who has received his first call-up to the senior side. The Stade Rennais left-back has 14 appearances for the youth sides. Truffert, born in Belgium, has made 10 appearances for Rennes this season in all competitions, registering two assists.
France are without 11 players for this final meeting before the Qatar World Cup in November, although many are expected to be fit for the competition, the preparation has been far from ideal for Didier Deschamps.
