As reported by RMC, in speaking at the unveiling of the club’s new coach Lucien Favre, OGC Nice president has confirmed that the club are likely to separate with director of football Julien Fournier.
Fournier has been a long-term partner of Rivère’s at the club but tensions have grown between members of the hierarchy this season at Nice, particularly between Fournier and previous coach Christophe Galtier, leading Fournier to heavily criticised the PSG-bound coach in an interview with L’Équipe.
Rivère, when asked about the future of Fournier, explained: “Tensions are part of the life of a club. After that, there are not too many things that we love. Perhaps Julien has a future elsewhere than OGC Nice.”
Fournier himself has also recently admitted he’s likely to leave the club soon, saying earlier this month that “maybe, in September, they’ll want to work with someone else” but he suggested he would stay to help the club this transfer window.
