L’Équipe report that ex-German international central defender Jérôme Boateng intends to definitively refuse to accept a departure from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon this summer, with his club having sought to move him on owing to his hefty wages and poor performances last season.
The 33-year-old has not made any appearances for Peter Bosz’s outfit this season, with the Dutch coach having no desire to break up his current preferred back two of Thiago Mendes and Castello Lukeba. Despite this, Boateng believes he can break back into the starting XI.
In terms of departures, OL are still hoping to move left-back Youssouf Koné and central defender Sinaly Diomandé before the end of the window. Zimbabwean international attacker Tino Kadewere is also susceptible to an exit.
In defence, Lyon are still hoping to sign a right-back to replace Léo Dubois.
