Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Tottenham centre-back Joe Rodon (24) is set to arrive in France this weekend in order to undergo his medical at Rennes on Sunday.
Rodon’s loan move to Rennes has moved a step closer, according to Romano. The Welsh international is now set to travel to Rennes in order to undergo his medical and complete the formalities ahead of the move.
Tottenham will cover Rodon’s salary whilst on the season-long loan. The deal will also include a buy option for €20m.
Le Parisien first reported that discussions between Rennes and Tottenham were “very advanced” on Friday. With the arrival of Clément Lenglet (27) at Tottenham, Rodon has been pushed further down the pecking order. The Welsh international is looking to ensure his game time with the World Cup quickly approaching.
Should the loan be completed, he will be Rennes second centre-back recruit within a week, following the arrival of Arthur Theate (22) from Bologna.
