Following Bordeaux’s 2-0 loss to Troyes, last weekend, the Girondins’ president Gerard Lopez had some strong words about the players’ performance.
On Wednesday, January signing Joshua Guilavogui spoke to French regional radio station France Bleu Gironde in response to his president’s criticisms, accepting responsibility for the teams flaws.
“It’s not very agreeable,” said the French midfielder, “but right now, it’s the reality because we didn’t know how to respond to our expectations and we’re the ones who are responsible, we’re the ones on the pitch. I think when we sit 20th in the Ligue 1 table, we can’t say to our president ‘be careful what you say.’ The president has done all the necessary recruitment. He put all the necessary people in place. And now it’s our responsibility. If you do your job badly and your boss speaks badly to you, well you shut up, you accept it and you show the opposite on the pitch.”
