Karim Benzema says Brazil are favourites for the World Cup

Speaking on Sunday to Téléfoot ahead of his link-up with the France squad next week, France striker Karim Benzema said that he thinks Brazil are the big favourites heading into the World Cup. When asked about who he thought were the favourites for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, the Frenchman said the following:

“Vini Jr. & Rodrygo’s Brazil the big favorite? Yes they’re a favourite as Argentina can be, as Spain can be, France of course.”

Indeed he backed his Real Madrid teammates Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo to do well in the tournament, who definitely are ones to watch during this mid-season World Cup. He equally mentions the strength of Luis Enrique’s Spain and the Argentina of Lionel Messi, as well as honourably shouting out his own team, France, perhaps an act of modesty ahead of what could be an open tournament.

France will play Australia in their opening match of the tournament on Tuesday 22nd November at 20:00, before facing Denmark on 26th November, and then Tunisia on the 30th.
