Keylor Navas could leave PSG for Naples ‘within weeks’

According to Foot Mercato PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas (35) could leave the club within the next few weeks, with Serie A side Naples interested in the Costa Rican’s services. Navas is under contract with the Parisian side until 2024.

Navas made 21 appearances last season, keeping 9 clean sheets as he shared goalkeeping duties with star-signing Gianluigi Donnarumma (23) last season. Navas is looking for a more secure starting spot elsewhere, whilst his competitor Donnarumma  felt that he “could have done more” last season for PSG. With both goalkeepers only playing around half the season each, neither is happy to play second fiddle, and it looks as if Navas will blink first.

Navas told La Gazzetta dello Sport that “It wasn’t easy for him (Gianluigi Donnarumma), it’s true, but we are talking about the best player of the last Euro. He is a person, but also a fantastic athlete and professional. Will he be a starter next season? We know the situation and so does he”.

Both PSG and Navas know that Donnarumma’s younger age will make him the long term solution at the club – however Naples are reportedly interested in Costa Rican, who joined PSG back in 2019 from Real Madrid. Foot Mercato report that the Serie A side are worried about current negotiations with number 1 Alex Meret (25) for a contract extension are proving difficult – with the Naples hierarchy wanting to opt for an experienced option if they cannot keep Meret at the club.
