Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku: “We’ve always been an ambitious club.”

Following a brace against Atalanta in last night’s Europa League quarter-final second leg, French forward Christopher Nkunku (24) spoke to Canal+ about the possibility of winning the club’s first ever major trophy.

“Of course, we’ve always been an ambitious club. We play each competition to go as far as possible. Now, this season, there are two trophies left to win, you could say, with the cup and the Europa League. But there’s still a lot of work left to be done. So we’re going to have to get stuck in, enjoy tonight, and think about the next match which is this weekend against Leverkusen.”

Following his 30th goal in 43 appearances in all competitions this season for Leipzig, the 24-year-old also spoke about the dynamic of the team, for whom he has been so valuable this season.

“This is a team where everyone is the boss. But individual characters stand out too. But I think we’re all united, and that’s why this year I think we’ve been able to progress because at the start it wasn’t easy.”
