Leonardo on PSG future: “With me it is difficult, without me it is impossible.”

Speaking to Canal Plus following PSG’s title winning 1-1 draw with RC Lens at the Parc des Princes last night, Sporting Director Leonardo chose a flippant tone in which to discuss his future at the capital club.

“Earlier I said “with me it is difficult, without me it is impossible.” I sort of did my own Ibra (Ibrahimovic) thing. I am always available. I am very happy with what I am doing and I adore the challenge. Is it tough? Even better and I do not see where I could have a better challenge than at PSG.”

“We cannot forget the journey we’ve been on. I have made mistakes, that is for sure, I think I even know what they were. If we look at what has happened in the last 3 years, we are on a completely different trajectory.  We are on a trajectory of looking for balance. 3 years ago, we didn’t make many investments, we did them before. Then COVID happened which was another reason to stay calm and organised. Aside from that, we then made more investments. Honestly, if there wasn’t COVID, we would not have done the window that we did last summer, with 5 free transfers. I think we did well to take Messi, Ramos, Wijnaldum and three young players (Hakimi, Mendes and Donnarumma), it was a fabulous window. Aside from that, there are situations which are not normal. Organising and transforming all that into results, it is normal that this is difficult. It is normal that the expectations are high, even our own.”
