Ligue 1 Predictions | Round 34

GFFN Chief Features Writer Eric Devin and veteran GFFN contributor Jeremy Smith face off in our Ligue 1 predictions competition. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Scores after week seven:
JEREMY: 46
ERIC: 40

Jeremy’s Game of the Week: Saint-Etienne v Monaco, Saturday, 6pm (UK) – Saint-Etienne against Monaco sounds on paper like a top-of-the-table clash between two traditional powerhouses but this match carries importance for both teams for very different reasons. Monaco come into it in great form, their five straight wins putting them level on points with third-place Rennes. Despite a moderate uptick in form under Pascal Dupraz, Saint-Etienne are still in deep relegation trouble. Their home win last weekend followed by a come-from-behind draw at Bordeaux should give them some optimism but Monaco may prove too strong for them.

Eric’s Game of the Week: Clermont v Angers, Sunday, 2pm (UK) – Clermont showed the value of having a top-class striker with Mohamed Bayo’s vital goal against Troyes in the week, and should do the same here, with their home support helping to make the difference as well. Angers continue to flounder after a bright start to the season and could find themselves well and truly in a relegation scrap should they fail to get something from this match.
