Lille striker Jonathan David wants to be the top-scorer in Ligue 1 this season

Lille forward Jonathan David currently shares the top position in Ligue 1’s goalscoring chart with Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar. They both have scored nine goals this season and are two of the leading candidates to finishing the league campaign as the top goalscorer in the top flight of French football.

Speaking on the program “L’Équipe de Greg“, the 22-year-old Canadian international, who has bagged goals in each of his last four league appearances, admitted that he would like to finish the season as the top-scorer in Ligue 1. However, according to the player, it is not his current aim. He said,

“Personally, I don’t aim to finish first but, like any striker, it’s in the back of my mind. Given the quality of the players behind me, it’s possible that I will pass the twenty-goal mark this year. I’m starting to get a few good chances a game, so it’s up to me to finish the job.”
