Lucien Favre in calmer waters with OGC Nice

OGC Nice manager Lucien Favre, seems to be safe in his duties as head coach per reports from L’Équipe. This will come as a relief to the Swiss manager after he lost his cool post-match when asked about his future with the club just before the break. It was reported afterwards his future was in jeopardy and that he may not make it through the winter.

It seems Favre not only righted the ship with 7 games unbeaten, but got his players on the same page. Mario Lemina cleared the air by saying, “He got to know us and we got to know him…. Now we know what he expects of us. Something is taking.”

The full meeting with Lemina was reported in detail and covered by GFFN. Favre was a Nice fan favourite before moving to Borussia Dortmund. His last season with Nice before the move to Germany catapulted him to the discussion as one of the most in-demand coaches in Europe.

Even through the rough patch that started the discussion of Favre’s departure this season, the Swiss manager was clear that he saw the second half of the season as a target for improvement. Favre stated, “If you want to build a team, you have to choose a system and a philosophy, otherwise you’ll waste too much time.”

Nice currently sit in 9th place on the Ligue 1 table, but only 11 points away from a top 3 finish. Les Aiglons also qualified for the knockout stage of the Europa Conference League.
