As reported by BUT, Lyon are looking at signing Bayern Munich’s American international defender Chris Richards after a spell on loan with fellow Bundesliga club Hoffenheim this and last campaign.
The 22-year-old’s contract runs to 2025 but he is available on the transfer market this summer with Bayern seeking €15m plus add-ons with both English and further German clubs also keen on the versatile defender. Naturally a centre-back, Richards has played in both full-back positions during his career.
Richards has six senior USA caps to his name having played for the under 19, under 20 and under 23 teams as well. He made 34 outings for Hoffenheim over the last two seasons, scoring once.
Having not made European football for next season, Lyon have looked to start the transfer window quickly, talking to Shakhtar Donetsk winger Tetê (22) over making his loan move permanent in France, bringing back Alexandre Lacazette to the club after a spell with Arsenal and signing 19-year-old prospect Johann Lepenant from Ligue 2 Caen.
