Lyon have made contact with Bertrand Traoré

Sacha Tavolieri reports that Lyon have had conversations with 26-year-old Burkina Faso international winger Bertrand Traoré about a possible return.

OL have been considering the possibility of concluding a loan deal for the player, with Premier League side Aston Villa keen to offload a player that they signed in 2020. Traoré has ultimately been a bit-part player for AVFC, making 45 appearances and scoring 7 goals in all competitions over the course of the last 2 years.

The player is currently earning £130k a week, which is causing problems for suitors who are serious about entering into a loan agreement this summer. Lyon’s interest has been rejected out of hand by the player, as he does not want to return to France.

Championship outfit Burnley are also interested, but are struggling to justify internally apportioning such a considerable part of their wage budget towards the player. Aston Villa don’t want to carry more than 30% of the player’s wages during the 2022/23 campaign, in the event that he is loaned out.
