As reported by Fabrice Hawkins and RMC, Lyon are looking to re-sign their former attacker Amine Gouiri from Nice this summer but any deal would be complicated.
The 22-year-old attacker left Lyon in 2020 having struggled for game time after graduating from the club’s academy but OL are keen to undo what many fans saw as a mistake, especially considering a thrilling first season and a half for the Frenchman at Nice. However, the move could be a costly one for OL with Nice demanding €30m to allow the player to leave the Allianz Riviera despite reportedly frosty relations with new coach Lucien Favre.
Gouiri, says Hawkins, has many offers with Rennes in talks with Nice over an audacious player trade involving their striker Gaëtan Laborde while the player and his entourage are investigating a move to the Premier League with English clubs sounded out in recent days.
Lyon, however, would need to sell players before being able to sign Gouiri who has agreed with Nice that he’ll be sold in the event of a €40m offer, meaning Rennes will have to offer Laborde plus cash but Nice may be against selling to a direct rival, which could also affect OL’s chances.
