According to L’Équipe, talks between Olympique Lyonnais and Premier League West Ham over the transfer of central defender Issa Diop (25) are progressing, despite the likely loss of Tyrell Malacia (22) to Manchester United.
Having been interested in the French defender since the spring, Les Gones are now looking to finalise his arrival. With Jérôme Boateng taken out of the squad, and Jason Denayer’s contract running out tomorrow, the centre-back position for Lyon is one of concern. While 19-year-old Castello Lukeba could prove to be one solution, the club is looking for a second defender to complement him.
In April, West Ham set a price tag of €15m for the 25-year-old, who joined the Hammers from Toulouse in 2018 for a fee of €25 million. Over the last four years, the Frenchman has played 118 games for the East London side, but has failed to break into the national team.
