Lyon weighing up move for Angers’ Souleyman Doumbia

Foot Mercato are reporting that should Lyon fail in their pursuit of Nicolás Tagliafico (29) and Pervis Estupiñán (24), they may turn to Angers left-back Souleyman Doumbia (25).

L’Équipe have reported that Lyon reached an agreement with Ajax for the Argentine international left-back. However, Tagliafico himself is thought to be stalling on the deal in anticipation of a better offer either from Brighton or a club that is qualified for European competition.

Estupiñán is thought to feature on a list of alternatives, whilst Doumbia is the latest player to be linked with the club. Ivory Coast international Doumbia has just a year left on his current deal at Angers but featured in 27 Ligue 1 fixtures for the club last season. Since his €3m move from Rennes in 2020, he has featured 61 times for Angers.

Doumbia would be available for as little as €4m, whilst Lyon would be able to offer favourable terms relative to rivals for his signature (Union Berlin, Burnley, Birmingham).
