Manchester United striker Anthony Martial’s World Cup chances in danger

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial picked up another injury in a Premier League fixture against Everton on Sunday.

According to RMC Sport, Martial’s fitness issues could be a hindrance between him and his World Cup dreams. His injuries could be one of the reasons he might not get a call-up to the French squad, which will be assembled by Didier Deschamps next month.

Martial, who has rarely featured for the Premier League club this season, started the game against Everton on Sunday.

After providing the assist for Antony’s equaliser, the Frenchman signalled towards United’s technical area, asking them to make a change.

In the 29th minute of the game, Cristiano Ronaldo, who started the match on the bench, came on to replace the 26-year-old.

This season, Martial has suffered from two injuries, including one in the hamstring and another concerning his Achilles. Owing to these issues, he has been restricted to only 133 minutes of game time across four appearances in all competitions. Deschamps will announce his squad in a month, and as it appears, time is not in Martial’s favour.
