Speaking during Brazil’s preparation for the World Cup, Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos has spoken about his teammate Neymar – and his form coming into the tournament. The Brazilian praised Neymar’s hard work this season, as a witness to the attacker’s work-rate in training and good form at Paris Saint-Germain.
During the press conference, which was transcribed by L’Équipe, Marquinhos said that Neymar has arrived with the Seleçao in “excellent physical shape” and that he knows “how much he’s prepared and sacrificed everyday” in the build up to the tournament both in and outside of the national team environment.
Neymar has the pressure of a nation of his shoulders once again, but Marquinhos backs the winger to cope with it after a run of form this season which has seen Neymar invigorated – scoring 11 goals in 14 appearances in Ligue 1 with two goals in five appearances in the Champions League, one of his best outputs since joining PSG in 2017.
