Foot Mercato report this afternoon that Marseille have made an offer for Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares consisting of a loan deal with an option to buy.
The Gunners have yet to respond to the bid for the time being but are open to the idea of letting the Portuguese youth international go out on loan, with Serie A side Atalanta also said to be among Taveres’ potential suitors.
The 22-year-old has been with the Premier League team since a move from Benfica last summer, and has made 28 appearances in his first season at the club, scoring once.
Marseille are looking to strengthen the squad ahead of their Champions League campaign next season – despite the uncertainty around Jorge Sampaoli’s future – with Sead Kolašinac set to be shown the exit door after a poor first six months in France.
The Bosnian international has been a poor fit for Sampaoli’s formation, having initially arrived on a free transfer to compensate for the departure of Jordan Amavi, and had signed on an 18-month deal to begin with.
