Foot Mercato are reporting that Marseille centre-back Luan Peres (28) is close to joining Turkish side Fenerbahçe. The Brazilian will replace Kim Min-jae (25), who was close to joining Rennes but is instead set to join Napoli.
Peres, a favourite of former manager Jorge Sampaoli, doesn’t figure in new manager Igor Tudor’s plans, according to L’Équipe. So despite only arriving last summer for €4.5m and possessing a contract that runs until 2025, he is set to leave. Fenerbahçe are now in discussions to sign the centre-back, and according to Foot Mercato, Peres is close to departing.
In his debut season in France, Peres was ever-present in Sampaoli’s Marseille side. He featured in all but five of Marseille’s Ligue 1 fixtures and overall featured 49 times for the club.
It was recently revealed by La Provence that owner Frank McCourt was tightening the purse strings and that the club would first have to sell before bringing in further recruits.
