Santi Aouna is reporting that former PSG and Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is interested in the idea of joining OGC Nice and that discussions over a contract are already taking place.
According to Aouna, Pochettino is “particularly interested” by the project at Nice, and he is set to meet with club representatives today. Discussions over a contract for the Argentine manager, who was linked with the Chelsea job, began yesterday and are set to continue.
He could replace Lucien Favre, whose return to the club has not gone according to plan. Nice currently lie 13th in Ligue 1 and have registered just two victories. His side lost 1-0 at home to Angers after Jean-Clair Todibo was shown red just nine seconds into the fixture.
According to Aouna, the Swiss manager’s job is under considerable threat, and he himself is willing to leave the club. Favre only returned to Nice this summer following the departure of Christophe Galtier to PSG. Despite an impressive first spell at the club, he has been unable to replicate that this season, and he has often cut a frustrated figure. His answers in numerous press conferences alluded to a lack of active engagement in the club’s recruitment process, which was made difficult by the shock departure of Julien Fournier in July.
With Pochettino interested, and contract discussions already underway, Favre could soon find himself once again out of work.
